Application of FE Simulation in Manufacturing Process for Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic

The forming process of carbon fiber reinforced plastic has substantially increased in the industry due to its wide applicability towards mass production. The growth in production requires manufacturers to reduce the time required in forming CFRP and Finite element (FE) simulation is effective in optimizing process conditions, and minimizing lead times and design costs.

Development and interpretation of complex simulation models will be of huge interest as the demand rapidly increases and the validation efforts would be required to not only build confidence but also provide an understanding of the current limitations in FE simulation.
