Faurecia Emissions Control Technologies enhances development processes with HyperWorks

Download Customer Story

Within the development of its exhaust systems Faurecia Emission Control Technologies in Germany uses HyperWorks for meshing, linear FE-analysis, optimization and post processing. For the automotive industry it is very important to reach a reduction of CO2
greenhouse gases in vehicles that are newly developed. This involves reducing fuel consumption and in case of Faurecia Emission Controls lightening the exhaust system. In the time frame of the last five years, Faurecia has reduced the average weight of exhaust systems by 20%. The group has achieved this by re-designing the system’s architecture and
using new materials, such as building fabricated manifolds instead of cast iron. Faurecia uses HyperWorks to develop and analyze single components of the exhaust system as well as the entire system behavior. The areas in which HyperWorks is used are:
• Complete system durability
• Component shape, size, geometry and position optimization
• Noise Vibration Harshness
• Catalytic converters, diesel particle filter
• Lightweight fabricated manifold
