Beijing facility serves re-emerging North China manufacturing sector TROY, Mich., (May 9, 2006) - Altair Engineering, Inc., a leading global provider of technology and services that strengthen client innovation and decision-making, today announced that it has opened a second Altair China office in Beijing. Altair’s first China office was opened in Shanghai in 2001. The new Beijing facility will meet the demands of a re-emerging manufacturing sector in the 13 provinces that make up the North China region. It will provide both business and technical support for prospective and current customers that include China FAW Group Corporation, FOTON Auto, Motorola Beijing, Changchun Railway Cars and JCI. The event was marked with a celebration on March 30 that drew more than 100 automotive, aerospace and railway engineers, and included presentations by Altair Engineering leaders.

In remarks during the event, Altair Engineering President and CEO James R. Scapa discussed the future focus of the growing global company, while newly appointed Altair Executive Vice President of Asia/Pacific Operations Nelson Dias discussed the importance of cooperation in being a successful organization. Congratulatory speeches from Altair China customers included remarks by Xiaochun Jiang, vice president of FOTON Auto’s Technical Center. Altair engineers also presented a brief seminar on advanced optimization and data management technology.

"The Shanghai office has had five years of steady growth, earning a solid reputation for superior service and products, and becoming a strong player in this growing CAE market," said Herbert (Guohuan) Qi, country manager of Altair China. "Now, as the manufacturing centers in the north are being revitalized by government and foreign investment, the Beijing office is well positioned to provide Altair’s advanced technology to those businesses. It is that technology that will help change the region from a strictly manufacturing center to a product development center."
