Altair’s Concept to Reality Summer 2006 Issue Showcases Companies Building Reputations for "Firsts"

Articles on nanotechnology, product development through visual brainstorming, aerospace structures and extrusion simulation featured in four-time APEX award-winning magazine. TROY, Mich., (Sept. 8, 2006) - Altair Engineering, Inc., a leading global provider of technology and services that strengthen client innovation and decision-making, today announced that the Summer 2006 issue of Concept to Reality (C2R) is now available. The issue spotlights companies who have built (or are beginning to build) reputations for creating "firsts" - products that are powerful in generating commercial advantage and employee pride for innovative companies.

C2R Summer 2006 features:

  • Zyvex Corporation, the first molecular nanotechnology development company, which uses finite-element analysis to build microscopically small devices.

  • U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC), where a diverse group of engineers and designers more easily achieve new product convergence through visual brainstorming - a different twist on an old meeting tool.

  • The Boeing Company Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) in Philadelphia, which leverages optimization software tools to balance form and function in developing advanced rotorcraft, as well as in making meaningful improvements on legacy designs.

  • Altair Engineering, whose advanced computational tools boost productivity and part quality in the design and manufacture of extrusion dies.

At the same time, Altair announced that the twice-yearly publication was recently awarded the 2006 APEX Award for Publication Excellence for the fourth consecutive year. The annual competition is sponsored by the editors of Writing That Works: The Business Communication Report.

More than 5,000 entries from business writers, editors, publication staffs, and commercial and non-profit communications were divided into 11 major categories. C2R was one of close to 800 entries in the Magazines and Journals sub-category of Custom Publications. Candidates were evaluated on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and overall communications effectiveness.

"We are very proud to accept this honor for the fourth year in a row," said Michael J. Kidder, Altair’s vice president of Corporate Marketing. "Technology such as ours - combined with the power of human creativity - not only drives a robust product development process, but also provides opportunities to provide innovative, breakthrough products. C2R brings our readers the latest information and knowledgeable opinions on a variety of advanced technologies that can provide a competitive edge in the marketplace."
